***Contact & Bio: About

Glenna Gordon is a documentary photographer and photojournalist. She's been commissioned by the New York Times Magazine, Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, and many other outlets. She was the recipient of a World Press Award in 2015, a finalist for the Eugene Smith Award in 2017, and select other honors include the PX3 First Prize for Portraiture, PDN Annual's Project Award and Book Award, and American Photo 30, 31 and 32. She is also a lecturer at The New School in New York and a partner at the publishing collective Red Hook Editions.

Time's Lightbox described Glenna’s photographs as “powerful images of significance, humanity and loss,” and Teju Cole said her approach was “unusually lyrical” in the New Yorker.

Her book DIAGRAM OF THE HEART was released by Red Hook Editions in February 2016 and was chosen by the New York Times Magazine, Pictures of the Year International (POYi) and PDN's Photo Annual as a photobook of the year. The work was included in “Moving Walls 23: Journeys,” as well as at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) in Brooklyn, New York, and in several other shows.

In her work, she aims to find the unexplored and seldom mentioned, and to understand the scale of our world through seeking its edges.

She also enjoys long distance running, dancing hard, and making elaborate breakfasts.
