In 2008, the Ugandan government and the rebel group the Lord's Resistance Army had peace talks along the Sudan-Congo border. I went on assignment for the Associated Press to photograph the historic moment. Joseph Kony never showed, but the Invisible Children did. When their film went viral in 2012, this photo, which had languished on a friend's blog, was taken as an indictment on their professionalism and strategies for engagment.
