NYT: Sea Urchins in the Channel Islands

Can diving for sea urchins fix Jaime Lowe's love life? In July and August 2024, Jaime and Glenna learned to scuba dive. Jaime learned to hunt and gather urchins, and Glenna learned to take photographs underwater. They did between 20-30 dives while working on this story, encountering urchins, harbor seals, lobsters, and more. Glenna got over her fear of the ocean. Jaime leaned into the physicality of diving. 

The piece was commissioned by the New York Times Magazine for their annual "Voyages" issue, which was centered around what we do for a single bite of food.
